It’s a member of the Asparagaceae family, and native of southeastern Mexico, also called by the names as Bottle Palm and Elephant’s Foot because of its bulbous base. Ponytails make a great low maintenance indoor palm to grow inside home, office or anywhere.

    The texture of the trunk resembles an elephant’s foot. It is topped with clusters of long, slender strap-like leaves resembling blades of grass which droop gracefully from the trunk. The height of the ponytail can reach up to 20 feet or more in warm climates. When grown indoors, it usually grows to about three feet tall. It produces beautiful flower stalks which when grown outdoors give small yellowish or beige-colored flowers during summer.

    How to grow Brussels’s ponytail Palm:

    These palms are quite easy to grow, generally propagated from ‘pups’. Pups are small ponytails growing along with the mother plant. All you need to do to is to remove the pup from an existing plant and repot it.

    As the ponytail is a form of succulent, cactus mix will be the suitable soil for them to grow.

    Chambeyronia macrocarpa, also known as Red Feather Palm, Red Leaf Palm, Blushing Palm and Watermelon Palm, is an exotic palm which makes a great indoor plant.

    Leaves are eight to ten feet long and arching. The leaves of flame thrower plant is a real delight to eyes and lie in a flat plane. The dark green feathery fronds are long and arching with leaflets all over it growing up to three feet long, and thick in texture. The tree has a bright red leaflet that emerges among dark green feathery fronds.

    It produces stalks of small purple flowers that grow in branches from below the crownshaft. Seeds are large, and red in color thus the species name of “macrocarpa”.

    How to grow Chambeyronia macrocarpa: It can be propagated by seeds, however, it takes 5-6 months for the seeds to germinate. Ensure proper moist soil and strong light for the seeds to germinate.

    Care Instructions for Red Feather Palm

    Light: These palms like full sun but can also grow in partial shade.

    Water: Moderate. It does best in moist well-drained soil

    Cyrtostachys Renda, also known as red sealing wax palm and lipstick palm, is a beautiful, versatile tree. The tree develops a brilliantly red trunk that holds feathery green fronds on top of it.

    Lipstick palm, when grown in its natural habitat, can reach up to 50 ft, and 10-15 ft when grown as houseplant or garden plant.

    It produces greenish flowers which grow on the long stalks from below the crownshaft. It is dioecious and produces both male and female flowers followed by small shiny fruits that turn black when they ripe.

    How to grow

    Lipstick palm can be propagated both by seeds and cuttings, however, it’s much easier and faster to propagate from cuttings. Remove and replant suckers from the side of an established tree. Seeds take 3-4 months to germinate while to sprout it takes more time than that.

    Care instructions for lipstick palm

    Light: They can thrive well both in partial shade and full sun.

    Water: This is the most critical parameter which matters in the growth of lipstick palm. Ensure that the soil is moist. Water them more often to keep the soil moist.
